Here we come 2023! NYS FCCLA January Officer Blog

Hello, NYS FCCLA! This is Jackie Rivera, your 2022-2023 VP of Community Service and Competitive Events here to bring you January 2023’s Officer blog! Here is a little recap of what we’ve been up to this past month!

On December 4th, the State Executive Council was busy on Zoom working hard to make sure that this year’s State Meeting will truly leave a legacy with all of you guys. Hopefully, you’re planning on attending this amazing conference! Speaking of conferences, make sure that you’re working hard on your STAR Events if you are registered to compete at States! Who knows? Maybe your STAR Event will earn you the opportunity to travel all the way to Nationals in Denver, Colorado!

We are now moving on to the Marlboro Middle School and Marlboro High School holiday party, which happened on December 13th, 2022. This party took place at Marlboro High School. We started off with an icebreaker led by two high school chapter members. All of the chapter members got into a circle, and the objective of this icebreaker was to move to a completely different spot in the circle when something the leaders said applied to you. An example of this would be, “Go across the circle if you like coffee.” Next, we played a really fun game called “Werewolf.” Fun fact: I was 1 of 4 werewolves, and it was SO hard to try to not get caught. The most beloved thing about the party though was our Secret Santa tradition, which was a success! I got a lot of scented items!

Finally, our chapter did a fundraiser by selling fun socks from WeHelpTwo! Speaking of fundraisers, I hope that your chapter is planning to participate in this year’s State Project! I can’t wait to see how you guys leave a legacy in YOUR community!

That’s all for now! If you guys have any questions, please feel free to reach out!

Make 2023 your best year yet! ~Jackie
