New York State STAR Events

STAR Events: STAR Events (Students Taking Action with Recognition) are competitive events in which members are recognized for proficiency and achievement in individual projects, leadership skills and occupational preparation. STAR Events offers individual skill development through the following:

  • Cooperative: teams work to accomplish specific goals
  • Individualized: members work alone to accomplish specific goals
  • Competitive: individual or team performance measured by an established set of criteria

There are fourteen different events in which members may participate. The primary goal of STAR Events is to help members develop specific lifetime skills in character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge and vocational preparation.
