State Project 2008
"Let's Get Through It"
Goal:
Our goal is
to get FCCLA chapters to recognize and help families or communities of
personal or natural disasters:

Use the planning process to develop and carry out the state project.

Recognize and help families or communities that are going through
natural or personal disasters.
- Apply
for State Recognition
- Apply
for National Recognition (ex: Power of One, Student Body, or
Community Service)
Project Participation:
Using the
Power of One, Student Body, Community Service or other national
programs, we want chapters to recognize and help a family or community
through a disaster. (Information about all the programs is available on
CD’s from National)
Project Ideas:
- Peer
Counseling

Children of Divorce Support Group – to show them that they are not
alone
-
Homework Club
- Bring
in guest speakers to talk about personal and natural disasters.

Putting together and delivering “Disaster Kits” for either personal
or natural disasters, for families or communities. Examples
available on state website: www.nysfccla.org

Fundraising to donate money to disaster organizations.
- Blood
Drives
-
Provide different kinds of services (ex: making nutritious, portable
meals, clean-up after disasters, host family, babysitting service,
FCCLA Sister/Brother, etc.)

“Disaster Awareness” Brochure to distribute in school and community

Reporting:
- Report
your project to the State by using the attached form.
- Report
your project to Nationals by filling out the 2007 National
Program Award Application for any program that you used for additional
